Fixed-Odds Betting
What is it and how does it differ from pari-mutuel / “tote” betting? Fixed-odds (FO) wagering is a common form of betting in parts of Europe where most of 1/ST CONTENT’s biggest customers are based. It has been the staple diet of bettors in the UK and Ireland for over 70 years but is relatively new to the US market. With FO you get exactly what it sounds like, a ‘fixed’ price at the time you place your wager. With pari-mutuel betting, once all the wagers have been placed and the race is off, the track takes its cut and the rest is divided between those who won. However, importantly, the customers do not have visibility of the final price until the race is run.
It’s just the latest innovation from 1/ST CONTENT whose wider modus operandi is to ensure the most comprehensive and responsive pricing service for North American horse racing, featuring odds that track every stage of the betting life-cycle – from early quotes to starting prices and then the most sophisticated in-running pricing feed (see below). These fully-automated pricing solutions offer true differentiation to drive betting revenues and help attract new audiences.
In-Running Betting
Together with our partners at TPD (Total Performance Data), we’ve recently rolled out “In-running Betting”, an industry-first for North American racing, to a range of Tier-1 operators in Europe who have been quick to report positive spikes in turnover. This breakthrough product was fashioned to disrupt the sportsbook space by delivering reliable live pricing on a popular sport which had previously struggled to keep pace with a broader sports betting marketplace, where over 70% of turnover is generated in-play. Now, however, we can deliver a dependable in-play offering that crystalizes accurate odds for the most solid in-play, fixed-odds pricing around.
The feed fuses the industry starting price with the best of automated trading via TPD’s astonishing range of consequential in-running analytics, including stride length, stride frequency and sectional timings enabled by saddle-cloth GPS tracking. These variables are accordingly harvested in-play by TPD’s machine-learning trading tools whose algorithms train themselves on race pace for precise pricing that delivers a distinct step-change in live fixed-odds betting.
Digital Retail Display
